The Sustainability Vision Workshop – A way Forward for 2011 event is
part of a series of conversations leading up to the biannual SSEE 2011
International Conference.
Scheduled for October-November 2011, the SSEE International Conference
will be a platform event for sustainability executives and practitioners, engaging engineering, science, management and related disciplines.
Inspired by the WorldCafe© networking style, the 2011 SSEE International Conference aims to harness the power of conversation for enhanced business, environmental, ethical and social value.
Through the lens of human to earth systems linkages, a variety
of sustainability strategies, models, partnerships and actions will be showcased.
In particular, local and global issues of interconnectedness across professions, industry sectors and communities will be explored.

Workshop Facilitators:
David Hood
David Hood is a Chartered Professional Engineer with over thirty-five
years experience in business, engineering, education, project management,
and senior executive positions in both the public and private sectors. David is Chairman of his own consulting engineering practice specialising in the areas of sustainability in the built environment, “green projects”, energy efficiency policy, engineering education and global engineering infrastructure. As a Board member and Chairman of Australia’s College of Environmental Engineers (2008/09), David has been driving change to inculcate a sustainability culture across education in engineering and the built environment disciplines.
David is the inaugural Chairman of the Australian Green Infrastructure Council (AGIC). David is actively involved with industry and professional associations promoting the improved energy performance of the built environment. He sits on a number of industry, community and university advisory boards where his extensive engineering background, and considerable involvement at a senior level in the built environment sector is influencing change in the “energy culture” of Australia. David is an accredited presenter on Al Gore’s Climate Project, and an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Built environment and Engineering at QUT.
Tim Kastelle
Tim Kastelle is a lecturer of Innovation Management for The University
of Queensland Business School an editor of the journal Innovation: Management, Policy & Practice. Tim also consults on the areas of improvement of innovation management and network analyses, particularly those aimed at finding links
between the structure of firms and their performance in the areas of innovation and strategy. His innovation strategy and leadership research interests include
studies on combining evolutionary economic theory with development
of national innovation systems, as well as studies on the impact of collaborative network structures on innovation performance. Tim’s work on complex
network analysis and the impact of innovation on economic development
provide key insights into the issue of concerted and innovative action
required for long term sustainable strategies.
